Police in Karachi have taken three children, said to be between seven to eight years old, in protective custody after they were found sleeping in a garbage dump.
According to sources, the children told the police that they had been turned out of their home by their parents for failing to collect at least Rs300 every day. The children were found sleeping in a garbage dump by residents who then handed them over to policemen deployed at a checkpost in the area.
