Anti-polio campaign launched in KP

PESHAWAR: The KP government on Friday launched the anti-polio campaign during which more than 3.7 million children would be vaccinated.

Talking to the media, Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz said children from 18 districts across the province would be vaccinated during the drive. He said 16,000 teams had been formed for the campaign and over 26,000 security personnel deployed to protect the polio teams.

Campaign Coordinator Abdul Basit said the aim was to vaccinate more than 3.7 million children during the campaign and all the arrangements had been made for the purpose.

He said that 16,731 trained teams had been formed for the campaign, adding 15,965 mobile, 708 transit and 58 roaming teams would be there to support the overall drive.

A total of 4,385 area in-charge have been posted, Abdul Basit added.
