While campaigning for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, Prime Minister Imran Khan made a fiery speech against his opponents. There is no doubt that free speech is one of the basic characteristics of democratic societies, but there’s a thin line between ‘free speech’ and ‘ridiculing other people’. A prime minister is the head of a country. He is above political affiliations and politics of revenge. He or she has a higher role and an even higher cause – the cause of a leader, a role model and a mentor. When the PM starts speaking informally, the sanctity of the PM office is compromised. The PM is requested to think before he speaks. He must realise that he is currently representing the whole nation.
