KARACHI: Three people, including a minor girl, were wounded in separate incidents of firing in different parts of the city on Sunday, according to police officials.
A man was shot and injured in a firing incident near Gora Qabristan in the Saddar area. The injured person was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment. He was identified as 39-year-old Shakir Arshad. Police said that the incident took place over resisting a mugging bid. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation. In another incident, 25-year-old Omar, son of Haji Ghulam, was wounded after unidentified suspects opened fire on him over reasons yet to be ascertained. The injured person was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. A minor girl was also wounded under mysterious circumstances at her house located in the Korangi area within the limits of the Zaman Town police station. She was taken to the JPMC for medical treatment. The injured girl was identified as 10-year-old Safia Haroon. Police said that the family of the victim has said in their initial statement that the incident took place after a stray bullet hit the girl.
