Minor girl among three people suffer gunshot wounds

Three people, including a minor girl, were wounded in separate incidents of firing in the city on Sunday, according to police officials.

A man was shot and injured in a firing incident near Gora Qabristan in the Saddar area. The injured person was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). He was identified as 39-year-old Shakir Arshad. Police said that the incident took place over resisting a mugging bid.

In another incident, 25-year-old Omar, son of Haji Ghulam, was wounded after unidentified suspects shot him over reasons yet to be ascertained. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

A minor girl was also wounded under mysterious circumstances at her house located in the Korangi area within the limits of the Zaman Town police station. She was taken to the JPMC for medical treatment. The injured girl was identified as 10-year-old Safia Haroon. Police said that the family of the victim has said in their initial statement that the incident took place after a stray bullet hit the girl.

Woman dies

A young woman died at her house located in the Quaidabad area on Sunday. Her body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Police said that she was identified as 26-year-old Rasheeda Sakhi Muhammad. They said that the woman had died after consuming some toxic substance. According to the family of the woman, she had committed suicide. Police said that the family of the woman had not told them about the reason behind her alleged suicide.
