Group insurance
In a recently issued notification by the finance department of the Sindh government, it was said that those government employees who served their respective departments from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2020 and who died during their job period or after retirement will be compensated under the group insurance scheme. Under this scheme, the Sindh government has also increased monetary compensation for government servants who died on or after July 1, 2020. This scheme is only valid in the event of death of employees. It is important to mention here that all employees are entitled to receive the amount of group insurance during their lifetime. The premiums of this insurance are usually deducted from the salaries of employees on a monthly basis. Retired civil servants have protested several times against this injustice.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is requested to review the group insurance policy, and make all government servants eligible to receive some amount under this scheme.
