Sarwar for ensuring quality healthcare
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar was called on by Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) & Lahore General Hospital Prof Dr Muhammad Al-freed Zafar at Governor’s House here on Saturday. In this meeting, the governor said medical teachers, professors and senior doctors have great responsibility for improving quality healthcare to strengthen public confidence in government hospitals and they should play their full role in ensuring quality healthcare as well.
He said during the Corona epidemic, doctors, nurses and paramedics worked tirelessly and professionally to treat patients suffering from this deadly disease and saved their lives for which they rendered unparalleled services which were undoubtedly commendable. Our health sector would continue to work diligently to cope with the current situation, especially the Delta virus and to do its utmost to implement the brilliant strategy of Prime Minister Imran Khan which has been much beneficial in the last three waves of corona epidemic and has also been acknowledged globally as successful, the governor said.
During the meeting, PGMI Principal Prof Al-freed Zafar said with the Sehat Cards, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Punjab government are providing free medical treatment to people which is a historic step indeed.
He said during coronavirus, doctors community rendered excellent services. He added that the treatment of patients was not less than a challenge for the doctors. He said the experience of Telemedicine System in Punjab, especially in Lahore was excellent through which thousands of people got benefit.
Prof Al-freed added that this facility introduced in Pakistan was made available to the public for the first time and with this facility a large number of people from home and abroad got online medical advisory from the doctor of General Hospital.
He assured the governor that PGMI's Health Education platform would introduce such a mechanism that people would feel priority and pride in government hospitals for medical treatment. He said that the present government has allocated ample funds for construction of new hospitals and provision of modern medical equipment in Lahore and other cities of the province which would bring significant relief to the patients.
