Reforms introduced for best health facilities: Buzdar

LAHORE : Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the PTI-led government has introduced revolutionary reforms in the health sector in a short span of its time.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said that the reforms aim to provide the best and quality healthcare facilities to people in the public sector hospitals.

The chief minister said that the total budget of the health sector had been increased by 118 percent during the last three years, adding that Rs369 billion had been allocated for the sector in the current financial year, while Rs1.5 billion had been allocated for the purchase of corona vaccine. He said that the universal health insurance programme was the flagship programme of the PTI government, which provided free treatment facilities to every citizen. He said that every family would be able to access standard treatment facilities up to Rs720,000 per year free-of-cost. He said that the programme had been launched in Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal Divisions and by the end of this year, around 110 million people of the province would have access to free medical treatment.

Gulab Devi underpass: The chief minister will perform the foundation stone laying of Gulab Devi underpass and Lahore Bridge expansion projects today (Monday).

On the instruction of the CM, the government has started work on projects worth billions of rupees for providing relief to Lahorites. According to a handout issued here Sunday, the chief minister would be briefed by the LDA DG on the projects. He would also talk to the media. The CM said that Lahore was the heart of Pakistan, adding that work had been started on projects worth billions of rupees for development of the Lahore city. The self-exhibitory projects of the former rulers proved to be a burden on the national exchequer and the people’s needs and preferences were ignored by the former rulers, he said.

Usman Buzdar said that the PTI government had started projects keeping in view the needs of dwellers of Lahore.

Praises police, CTD: The chief minister terming the death of ringleader of Ladi Gang an achievement of Punjab Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), said that those officers who performed their duty were the pride of nation. The chief minister said the government admired the professional capabilities and skills of Punjab Police and CTD and the whole nation was proud of such brave sons.

Usman Buzdar said the exemplary end of a cruel murderer in an encounter was an open and clear message to all anti-social and criminal elements that all such gangs would be busted and every criminal would meet the same fate. Usman Buzdar assured that the government would take all possible steps to safeguard the life and property of the people and no gang or group would be allowed to spread terror or lawlessness in the province. He asserted that the government would ensure the rule of law. He lauded and congratulated the Punjab Police and CTD on this major achievement.

Condolences: The chief minister expressed deep grief over the demise of former governor and Chief Minister Sindh, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto. The chief minister also extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family members. In his condolence message, Usman Buzdar prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family.
