Covid kills 18 more in Sindh

Eighteen more people have died due to Covid-19 and 1,467 others have tested positive for the disease during the past 24 hours in Sindh, with the death toll due to the viral coronavirus infection reaching 5,720 in the province.

The daily situation report on the health emergency released by the Sindh government on Sunday said that 19,655 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, resulting in 1,467 people, or eight per cent of those who were screened, being diagnosed with Covid-19.

The provincial government has so far conducted 4,795,890 tests, which have resulted in 356,912 positive cases, which means that 7.4 per cent of those screened have been found infected.

After the latest deaths, the rate of the diagnosed people who have lost their fight with the disease stands at two per cent in Sindh.

Moreover, 30,592 people across the province are currently infected: 29,551 are in self-isolation at home, 70 at isolation centres and 971 at hospitals, while 889 patients are in critical condition, of whom 59 are on life support.

As for beating the disease, 385 more people have recovered during the past 24 hours, increasing the number of cured patients to 320,600, which shows the recovery rate to be 89.8 per cent.

Out of the 1,467 fresh cases of Sindh, 1,236 (or 84.3 per cent) have been reported in Karachi: 431 of the city’s new patients are from District East, 228 from District South, 193 from District Korangi, 185 from District Central, 107 from District West and 92 from District Malir.
