Cleanliness arrangements finalised for Eid days

LAHORE : City’s district administration has issued a plan regarding the preparations for Eid-ul-Azha here on Saturday.

DC Lahore Mudassar Riaz said that the district administration of Lahore has prepared a special plan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha for garbage collection and sanitation.

Arrangements will be made for complete sanitation in the city two days before Eid and the process of removing the remains and skins of sacrificial animals will continue immediately during the three days of Eid.

DC Lahore said that all the staff of LWMC will be on duty during Eid days to provide all possible facilities to the citizens of Lahore. He said that LWMC would set up collection points in every union council of the city during Eid.

DC Lahore said that 158 points will be set up in the first phase while 132 in the second. Collection points will be set up not only for complaints but also for the continuation of sanitation activities in collaboration with the citizens of Lahore.

DC Lahore said that free of cost bags for lifting animal waste and skins will also be available at the collection points. He said that distribution of 1.5 million bags would be ensured in 09 zones.

DC Lahore said that a control room would also be set up in the LWMC office for monitoring all matters during Eid under the command of a senior manager.

The first shift will be started from 6.00am and continued till 2.00pm while the second shift will start from 2.00 PM till 10.00pm and the third shift will start from 10.00pm and will end at 6.00am in the morning, the DC said.

Mudassar Riaz said that the control room will monitor all the three shifts. He added that pickups will also be present at points during the Eid days to pick up animal waste. He said that 57 pick-ups will be available two days before Eid and 394 pick-ups one day before Eid and 1200 pick-ups will be available on the first day, 1097 on the second day and 556 on the third day.

DC Lahore further said that the vehicles carrying the debris will be monitored automatically using the PITB application.

DC Lahore concluded that arrangements for cleanliness in Eidgah

and mosques will also be ensured and every Imam in city mosques will also highlight the importance of cleanliness in his sermon.
