Governor, Indonesian envoy discuss cementing economic ties

LAHORE : Indonesian Ambassador in Pakistan Adam Mulawarman Tugio called on Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar at Governor’s House here Thursday. Both agreed to promote bilateral relations and economic ties.

The governor and Indonesian envoy stressed on the need to resolve the Kashmir and Palestine issue for peace. Discussion related to bilateral relations, current regional situation, Kashmir and Palestine and other issues was held. During the meeting, the Indonesian Ambassador appreciated Pakistan's role in Afghan peace process and eradicating terrorism. Governor Ch Sarwar stated that Pakistan was among the top five importers of palm oil from Indonesia, adding that there were deep religious, cultural and trade ties between Pakistan and Indonesia which were getting stronger with each passing day. He said that Indonesia was an important trading partner of Pakistan. While appraising the Indonesian Ambassador of the initiatives being given to the investors, he said the Punjab government was establishing special economic zones to facilitate the foreign investors where all facilities were being provided through one window operations. Business community plays an important role in the nation's development and Pakistan is a safe country for foreign investment, he added. Indonesian Ambassador said that his country gives high value to brotherly relations with Pakistan. Indonesian investors are playing their role in Pakistan's economic stability and development.
