The Sindh High Court on Monday restrained demolition of houses coming in way of the construction of the Lyari Expressway till further orders.
The direction came on petition of more than 50 people who submitted that authorities had started the process of demolishing their houses situated at Liaquatabad and Angara Goth areas, despite the Supreme Court had ordered that demolition process should not be initiated till the referee judge of the court did not announce his decision, where the matter was pending for adjudication. The court restrained the authorities from demolishing the houses of the petitioners and directed the deputy commissioner West to appear along with relevant record of the case on January 12.
