Another Metro bus catches fire
LAHORE: A fire broke out in a Metro bus at Katcheri Station on Tuesday. It was the second such incident during the last two weeks. The engine of Metro Bus No. 51 was completely burnt due to the fire. After the fire broke out, all the passengers were evacuated from the Metro bus. No casualties were reported during the fire. Earlier, a fire broke out in another moving Metro bus near Yadgar Station in the last week of June.
Man killed: A 35-year-old man was killed in a firing incident in Shera Kot area on Tuesday. Police have registered a murder case against eight unknown accused including three nominees. The accused attacked the victim with iron rods, sticks, firearms following a minor altercation. One Waqas informed 15 that his brother had been shot dead by eight people. The victim Mirza Khurram of Mohra Sharif had a quarrel with his neighbour Arshad who called his friends and shot him to death. Police shifted the body to the morgue.
arrested: Lahore Investigation police arrested two accused wanted by the police in fraud and cheque dishonour cases. Rang Mahal investigation police arrested Faisal Gujjar and Ghalib Market investigation police rounded up Faisal Amin in fraud and cheque dishonour cases respectively. Meanwhile, North Cantt police claimed to have arrested two drug pushers and recovered charas weighing 1kg from their possession. The accused were identified as Javed and Ali Raza. The accused confessed to supplying drugs to the students.
Labourer dies: A 20-year old labourer was killed and another injured when the roof of an under-construction house collapsed in the Scheme Morr area on Tuesday. On being informed, the rescuers rushed to the spot and pulled out a body and a survivor from the debris. The victim was identified as Ijaz, son of Bashir. The injured Hussain, son of Altaf, was admitted to hospital. Body was shifted to morgue.
thieves: Sundar Investigation police arrested six thieves who had stolen goods from a factory of a foreign company. The arrested criminals were identified as Haider, Arif, Suhail and their three accomplices. The accused had entered into the factory, loaded goods on a truck and escaped. Meanwhile, Lohari Gate police claimed to have arrested a bike thief on Tuesday. The accused identified as Zaid Khan was on his way back after stealing a bike of one Rehan from outside his house when he was caught and handed over to the police.
electrocuted: A lineman was electrocuted to death while working on a power line in the Sherakot area on Tuesday. The victim identified as Abid Ali, 35, served as an assistant lineman in Wapda. He was electrocuted while repairing wires in a power pole in the Sherakot area. Abid was given green signal that the switch from the main grid was off. He climbed up the pole and as he touched the wires, he got electric shocks resulting into his instant death. Body was handed over to the family.
suicide: A 40-year-old man committed suicide in Muhammad Nagar, Garhi Shahu area on Tuesday. The man identified as Shahid committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan, following unknown domestic reasons. Edhi volunteers removed the body to mortuary.
found dead: A man was recovered dead from a field near Jallo Park Batapur on Tuesday. The victim identified as Usman, son of Rashid of Shadbagh area, was shot at in the head. Police shifted the body to morgue.
suspended: DIG Operations Lahore suspended Sub-Inspector Muhammad Anwar in-charge Chowki Industrial Area (Kahna) for manhandling women. He directed him to report Police Lines besides issuing a regular department inquiry against him.
