44 Covid-19 cases; No death in twin cities
Islamabad: As many as 44 new patients were tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while the virus claimed no life from the region.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Monday reveals that in the last week, the weekly positivity rate of the infection in the federal capital has been recorded as 0.9 per cent, the lowest in a week in the year 2021 while in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate of COVID-19 in Rawalpindi district has turned out to be 1.53 per cent showing the third wave of the outbreak has almost lost its intensity in the region.
The total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 107,378 of which 1,768 have lost their lives due to the illness. The number of active cases from the region has been recorded as 1,109 on Monday.
According to District Health Officer ICT Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia, a total of 221 patients belonging to the federal capital have been diagnosed with COVID-19 from June 21 to 27. In the last 24 hours, as many as 31 new patients have been tested positive from ICT taking tally to 82596 of which 776 patients have lost their lives due to COVID-19. To date, a total of 80,860 patients from ICT have recovered while the number of active cases of the disease has been recorded as 960 on Monday.
In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid informed ‘The News’ on Monday that to date, as many as 680,775 persons belonging to the district have been vaccinated against COVID-19 of which 649,743 are individuals from general public and 31,032 are health workers.
It is important that the virus has so far claimed a total of 992 lives from Rawalpindi district. Only 13 new patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking tally to 24,782 of which 23,641 patients have recovered. On Monday, as many as 19 confirmed patients from the district were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 130 patients were in home isolation.
