Outlaw killed, cop injured in Lakki shootout

LAKKI MARWAT: An outlaw was killed and a cop sustained injuries in a shootout in the limits of Ghaznikhel Police Station on Saturday, an official said.

Shahid Hameed, spokesman for the police, said that two women and a minor were killed and two other minors were injured when rivals hurled a

hand grenade into the house of Jalaluddin at Jabukhel village a day earlier.

Taking serious note of the incident, Regional Police Officer Sajid Ali directed the District Police Officer Imran Khan to arrest the accused at the earliest.

He said that a police party headed by Station House Officer Said Nawaz and Sub-Inspector Damsaz Khan raided a hideout at Jabukhel in the jurisdiction of Ghaznikhel Police Station to arrest the accused involved in the heinous crime of killing two women and a minor.

The outlaw, he said, hurled a hand grenade and opened fire on the police, injuring Sub-Inspector Damsaz Khan.

Other police personnel present on the spot opened retaliatory fire, as a result of which the accused, Naveed, was killed. However, his accomplices managed to flee the spot.A Kalashnikov,h two magazines and ammunition were recovered from the spot.The police shifted the injured cop and body of the accused to the District Headquarters Hospital Lakki Marwat. The police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the arrest of the fleeing accused. Naveed was a key member of the notorious ‘Makho’ group. The accused’s father was also killed in a police encounter in 2019.
