The healthcare authorities in Sindh must pay attention to the horrifyingly small number of public hospitals in the province. Karachi is the biggest city of the country and doesn’t have a sufficient number of state-run hospitals. Many private hospitals have been set up in the country. However, the poor and low-income households cannot afford to pay for the medical treatment offered by these expensive hospitals. At government hospitals, many critically patients don’t receive treatment on time and they have to wait for months for their turn. During these long periods, a patient’s condition gets worse, leaving little hope for recovery. Also, patients at government hospitals are deprived of pure water and healthy food. It seems that in our country, only wealthy people have access to world-class facilities.
The authorities are requested to set aside more funds for public hospitals and uplift the healthcare sector. Poor patients must have access to top-notch medical treatment.
