‘Bowling wicket to wicket key to success’

KARACHI: Multan Sultans’ Test pacer Imran Khan Senior has been doing well with the leather, having claimed eight wickets in four games of the HBL PSL-6 Abu Dhabi leg so far with two three-fors. He has bowled with tight line and length and has judiciously used his variation and has been a key in Multan’s success story.

In the Karachi leg, he played just one game against Quetta Gladiators on March 3, finishing with 1-22.

On Friday night, Imran pulled off figures of 3-24 in four overs, dismissing Ben Dunk (5), Sohail Akhtar (5) and Tim David (10). He bowled David with a super inswinger that broke the back of Lahore Qalandars who tasted a huge 80-run defeat when they were folded for just 89, chasing a target of 170.

Imran says disciplined line and length was the key to his success. “My plan is simple. I bowl wicket to wicket and keep it as per my strength,” Imran said after Multan’s massive win over Qalandars .

He said they are reaping the fruit of their hard work under hot conditions. “Thanks God for the way we worked harder after coming here. We also played a couple of practice games and we defied heat and that worked. The way I delivered in every match, I am very happy,” Imran said.

He said that his record in white ball cricket has been fairly good. “If you see my performance in one-day and T20 and find out stats you will see my economy rate and my wickets. It depends on luck. My job is to work hard and keep fitness and the rest depends on fate,” Imran said.

He said that despite losing four games in the Karachi leg they were optimistic about a fight back. “Despite losing four matches in Karachi we were hopeful that we could still win the event,” Imran said. “We are working hard and now we will try to keep the same momentum,” Imran said.
