KARACHI: Despite being on the brink of elimination, Quetta Gladiators’ Australian batsman Jake Weatherald hopes his side can still push on by winning their remaining four matches.
“It’s very interesting as we will have to win the next four games. If we can stay composed and have the winning attitude, it’s a good team and can push forward,” Jake said after the Gladiators were humiliated by Islamabad United with a ten-wicket win on Friday night.
Jake top-scored for Gladiators, hitting a 35-ball 43 before being bowled by Akif Javed on Friday against Islamabad United.
Gladiators have only one win to their credit from six games and any further loss may put them out of the equation.
Praising the world class batting from Colin Munro, Jake said he was happy with the way he started off for Gladiators. “The conditions were not easy for bowling second because of dew. My batting was a lot better, not taking away their (Munro, Khawaja) performances as they batted beautifully. Colin was just amazing. I will try to kick on as Colin did today,” he said.
“I am thankful to the Gladiators for giving me an opportunity in the first game and I will try to perform in matches to come,” said the left-hander.
“It’s a new opportunity, new league and I am looking forward for some good contributions,” he said.
