LAHORE:University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in collaboration with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) organised a training session for dog castration surgery here on Wednesday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the inaugural session. Speaking on the occasion, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad called the neutering programme a paradigm shift from stray dog killing to animal birth control in Punjab to curb rabies in human which is a proper way to control population of stray dogs. Various aspects were during the workshop related to animal birth control through surgical neutering and rabies vaccination, etc.
UVAS Pro-Vice Chancellor/Honorary Secretary (SPCA) Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Additional Secretary (Technical) Livestock & Dairy Development Department Punjab Dr Iqbal Shahid, In-charge Pet Centre Prof Dr Asim Khalid and focal persons from Livestock Department Divisional Head Quarter, focal persons from various NGOs and UVAS faculty members attended the meeting.
