Imran Khan recently made indirect threats towards members of the Seelo community in Mianwali to give more land to the Namal College, stating that the PTI would otherwise take the land under Article 4. This is inexcusable to say the least. The acquisition of land for a private university like Namal under the said article is illegal, even according to legal experts.
By making such statements, Imran is not only hurting himself politically, but also undermining years of social work he has done in the country, especially in his hometown. This attitude shows that Imran is averse to any opposition to his decisions. It is upsetting when intellectuals and party members try to defend the indefensible in what Imran said. Even though it is a farfetched thought, one can only imagine what Imran may actually do if his party assumes power in the centre.
