Man booked for injuring cop

LAHORE:Lower Mall police have registered a case against a man on charges threatening and injuring a cop under his vehicle the other day.

The accused, Hamza Javed, a resident of Faisalabad, had introduced himself as an officer of a sensitive agency to get a room in a local five star hotel. On suspicion, the hotel management called police. Police officials took him into their custody and were on their way to Lower Mall police station to verify his vehicle.

As the accused, who was driving his vehicle, reached near Lower Mall police station, took out an iron bar, threatened a head constable, Munawar Khan, who was sitting next to him, of dire consequences and drove away. When he reached under Muslim Town Underpass, he dropped the head constable and intentionally ran him over, as a result, his right leg got fractured. The accused again sped away from the scene. He was on his way when his vehicle caught fire and was completely damaged. Police arrested him and registered a case against him under Sections 324, 365, 506, 279 and 170 PPC on the complaint of Head Constable Munawar Khan.
