Donald Trump breaks silence on Andrew’s arrest: ‘It’s a shame’

President Donald Trump just voiced sympathy for the British royal family.

This came after the February 19, 2026 arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — formerly Prince Andrew, on allegations that he shared confidential government material with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor who was arrested on his 66th birthday, was also later released under investigation.

According to BBC, Andrew served as U.K. trade envoy between 2001 and 2011 and that files recently released by the Department of Justice appeared to show he forwarded government reports from official visits to Vietnam, Singapore, and China to Epstein in 2010.

The documents also appeared to show he shared information about investment opportunities in Afghanistan.

While flying to Georgia, U.S. President, Donald Trump engaged in a conversation with reporters on Air Force One and expressed his opinion on Andrew’s arrest.

"I think it's a shame," he said, adding, "I think it's very sad. I think it's so bad for the royal family.

He continued, "It's very, very sad to me. It's a very sad thing.”

"When I see that, it's a very sad thing to see it and to see what's going on with his brother, who is obviously coming to our country very soon,” Donald further mentioned.

It is pertinent to mention that Donald Trump's comments came about two months before Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's older brother, King Charles III, is set to visit the U.S. in April.

The British monarch’s arrival would mark the first royal U.S. visit since Queen Elizabeth II in 2007.
