Agricultural land
The number of housing societies that are being built on agricultural land in big cities is increasing at a fast pace. These residential areas are being built to deal with the housing needs of people who migrate from villages and small cities to relatively developed cities to improve their standard of living. However, this practice is depriving the country of its agricultural output. Larkana used to produce more than 50,000 tonnes of guava every year. Now, the city is facing a sharp decline in guava production. Guava orchards are now being used to build housing societies. The authorities concerned are requested to look into this issue and protect these orchards. The government should focus on vertical construction and stop using fertile land for the construction of concrete buildings. If timely measures are not taken, the country will likely end up with a severe food crisis.
