Rs85 million cheques distributed

LAHORE:Lahore police on Friday distributed cheques amounting to Rs8.5 crore among 60 affectees of a private housing society situated on Ferozepur Road at Kahna during a ceremony held at Capital City Police Headquarters on Friday.

Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar was the chief chief guest of the event and distributed cheques among the affectees. The ceremony was also attended by senior police officers, including DIG Operations Lahore Sajid Kiani, SP Operations Model Town Division Dost Muhammad, SP Investigation Model Town Asim Iftikhar, SDPO Kahna Circle ASP Muhammad Shoaib and a large number of affectees of Pearl Garden Housing Society. The affectees had appeared before the CCPO Lahore in an open court a few months ago and lodged complaints against the fraud with more than 118 people in the name of sale of plots amounting to Rs9.5 crore by the owner of the housing society, Imran Bajwa.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar constituted an action committee comprising DIG Investigation, DIG Operations and members from the affected public. The committee under the guidance of the CCPO and with the coordination of the police concerned, land developers and business community worked day and night to complete the complicated task and the return of payments to the affectees as soon as possible.

Addressing on the occasion, the CCPO said about Rs8.5 crore had been recovered from the housing society owners in a record period.
