Weather turns pleasant as mercury dips

LAHORE:Under the influence of a westerly wave affecting upper and central parts of the country, rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours in central and northern parts of the Punjab province.

The spell of hot and dry weather finally discontinued from Thursday morning, bringing minimum temperature to 24.6°C and maximum at 28.9°C in the Provincial metropolitan, which is one of the lowest, thanks to rain coupled with wind/thunderstorm in northeast and south Punjab.

As per the forecast for Friday, weather will be pleasant in the city. However, hot and dry weather is likely to prevail over most parts of the country. It is expected that rain wind-thunderstorm will lash Kashmir, Potohar region, northeast and south Punjab and northeast Balochistan.

During the past 24 hours, Met department registered following volume of rainfall (mm): Punjab: Islamabad (AP 52, Bokra 38, Golra 29, City, Saidpur 28), Jhelum 42, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 40, Shamsabad 36), Murree, Mangla 24, Hafizabad, Chakwal 20, Sialkot (AP 19, City 11), Gujrat 15, Mandi Bahauddin 13, Tank 06, Narowal 03, Lahore 01, Kashmir 01: Garhi Dupatta 11, Rawalkot 06, Kotli 03, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 07 and Balakot 04. Thursday's maximum Temperatures of 46°C was recorded at Nokundi.
