Akbar says to come up with real facts on PTI accounts
ISLAMABAD: Foreign funding case petitioner Akbar S Babar Tuesday announced coming up with real facts about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accounts within 55 hours [11 days], on the basis of the documents, provided to them during perusal by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) body.
He was talking to the media after perusal of the PTI accounts for the day concluded, for which the ECP had passed an order on April 14, 2021, allowing perusal for 8 days or 40 hours. The perusal time was extended by three days, or 15 hours, on the request of the petitioner foreign funding case.
The perusal process will end on Wednesday and as the ECP had already announced no further extension will be granted for the exercise. Akbar S Babar said the PTI founders group was united in their stance to purge the PTI of corruption and refocus it to its founding ideals. He said once the overwhelming evidence of corruption and other financial irregularities were proved, the PTI would be purged of the corrupt and the incompetent leadership, reverting it to its principles of merit and transparency.
“The cat is out of the bag and cannot be put back. Keeping original PTI documents secret from the perusal process only adds to doubts about the credibility of the scrutiny process. “We will raise this issue that on whose direction, the scrutiny committee, during the last three-and-a-half years failed to do probe into foreign accounts or look into the case of PTI’s local employees,” he said.
