HARIPUR: A district councillor was gunned down at the court premises here on Saturday.

Police officials said District Councillor Javed Khan Jadoon of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had come to the district courts to attend the hearing of a case.

“A man fired at him near the cafeteria of the courts and he died on the spot,” said an official.

Autopsy reports revealed that he had received two bullets in the head which caused his death.

The assailant identified as Junaid Khan, resident of Basti Sher Khan, was disguised as a lawyer.
