KARACHI: A high level defence delegation headed by Secretary Defence Lt. Gen (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak left for the US to attend the 24th Meeting of Defence Consultative Group to be held in Washington.
The Secretary Lt. Gen (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak will be discussing bilateral issues and issues of importance between Pakistan and US.The US side will be headed by undersecretary of State for Defence Ms. Christine Wornuth. Apart from holding important sessions of DCG, Secretary Defence will meet US Congressmen, Senators, staffers and think-tanks.
Pakistan side will stress for a way forward on issues related to Coalition Support Fund, its reimbursement continuation and enhancement. It remains high on agenda that Pakistan requires security equipment for capacity building and counter-terrorism operations. Therefore, it is our prime requirement that not only our conventional capability needs to be increased but the cooperation with US should be broad-based. The secretary will hold a talk with the think-tanks in US to increase an understanding of Pakistan’s defence issues in the United States.
