Road blocked against murders
LAHORE
Family members of two victims, who were shot dead in a shootout between two groups a day back in Defence A, staged a protest demonstration on Defence Road on Saturday against the police for not arresting the murderers.
The protesters blocked the traffic by putting bodies on the road and chanted slogans against the police. The protest led to massive traffic jams. The blockage continued for more than four hours. The commuters had been stuck in long queues for more than four hours. The blockage was lifted after the police assured the protesters of arrest of the murderers within 24 hours.
Accused Arsalan and Kamran of Koray village had opened fire on each other over a property issue when the victims, identified as Haji Yousaf and Shamim Bibi, came under the fire range and succumbed to their wounds.
Meanwhile, the family members of one Iqra, who lost her life in a road accident two days back, staged a protest demonstration in Harbanspura area on Saturday against the investigation police for not arresting the accused responsible for her death. The protesters blocked the road and accused the police of not rounding up the real culprit involved in the accident. They further alleged police were forcing victim’s family to withdraw the FIR.
