Medical staff asked to be prepared to tackle dengue

LAHORE: Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar has urged the doctors, nurses and paramedics not to forget the challenge of dengue during the corona pandemic and to be fully prepared in this regard.

He said that now the dengue season had started so all the health professionals must attend the training workshops to enhance their professional skills and keep their knowledge related to dengue updated. These views were expressed by the PGMI principal while addressing the participants in an event held relating to dengue case management by Medical Unit III, Lahore General Hospital.

Prof Dr Tahir Siddique while briefing the young doctors on the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and precautions of dengue fever said that all the arrangements regarding dengue had been completed in the hospital. Assistant Prof Dr Muhammad Maqsood elaborated on dengue management while MS Dr Abdul Razzaq, Dr Jaffar Shah and other doctors were also present in large numbers who were given medical lectures on dengue fever keeping in view the past experiences.

2,000 saplings planted: Around 2,000 saplings were planted at Shahdara Reserve Forest near Jahangir’s tomb over an area of 2-acre with the technical assistance of Forest Department on Pakistan Day. The purpose was to clean the area which is currently a filth depot and turn it into a healthier, greener forest. The collaboration with Punjab Forest Department ensures timely maintenance and best after care the plants need for their growth.

Bali Memorial Trust (BMT) planted saplings of Ehretia, 400 Toot, 100 Amaltas, 100 Siris, 200 Neem, 50 Beri, 100 Dharek, 400 Pilkan, 250 Sukhchain, 100 Arjan and 100 Kachnar.
