Cut in doctors’ salaries slammed
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association Wednesday rejected a heavy cut in doctors’ salaries.
The PIMA warned protest demonstrations against the policy and urged the government not to intervene in the issue of the deduction of doctors salaries.
Talking to reporters, PIMA central President Dr Wali Muhammad Mujahid said the Punjab government had announced ad hoc relief for public sector doctors in 2010 based on the basic pay, saying that now the government not only suspended the ad hoc allowance but also ordered recovery from doctors from 2010.
Mujahid said it is injustice and very pathetic as the government has started deduction of ad hoc relief instead of increasing salaries.
He said the government has started deduction of Rs 8,000-12,000 from public sector doctors and it has panicked the doctors.
He said the PIMA has convened its meeting to finalize the protest strategy and sent the government a protest circular in this regard.
Multan district PIMA president Dr Farooq Ahmed, Dr Khalil Ahmed and general secretary Dr Majid Raza strongly condemned deduction and recovery of salaries. They urged the government stop cutting from doctors’ salaries.
