Drive against profiteering launched
NOWSHERA: The Food Department in Nowshera on Tuesday launched a weeklong special drive against profiteering, milk adulteration and the sale of dead chickens.
Nowshera District Food Controller Sher Fayaz Khan along with other staff of the department and police raided various markets in the Pabbi Tehsil.
Several shopkeepers were arrested and action taken against them as per the law.
Most of the shopkeepers arrested were milk and poultry dealers and nanbaais.
The district food controller urged the shopkeepers to follow Food Laws or else strict action would be taken against them.
The controller, who is also District Price Control Magistrate, appealed to the public to cooperate with the Food Department and register complaints at the Complaints Cell of the Food Department established for the purpose at the office of the District Food Controller.
