The Punjab Paramedical Staff Association (PPSA) held a protest demonstration and sit-in in front of Civil Secretariat on Monday for the acceptance of their demands.
A large number of paramedics of Services Hospital led by Yousaf Billa held a rally on donkey-carts and staged a sit-in in front of Civil Secretariat, which blocked the traffic on Lower Mall. The protesting paramedics were holding banners and placards, inscribed with their demands, and chanting slogans against the provincial government, Health Department and bureaucracy for denying due rights of the paramedical staff.
As the sit-in continued for nearly 8-hours, Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik and DG Health Dr Amjad Shahzad held negotiations with the paramedics and assured to fulfil their demands. The protesting paramedics ended their sit-in upon the assurance.
