LAHORE
The Youth Performing Arts Festival is a very positive platform for the youth of the country and besides their studies; the youngsters must participate in these healthy activities for their own growth and creation of a healthy society.
This was said by the Punjab Minister for Culture Rana Mashhood Ali Khan at the inaugural ceremony of the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop’s 14th Youth Performing Arts Festival at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
The minister said that the Punjab government wholeheartedly supported and promoted the healthy and positive activities for the youth of the province and praised the efforts of the RPTW for organising such a unique initiative for the youngsters. He announced that the finalists in different categories of the performances in this festival would be given a free ride around Lahore city’s cultural sights on the newly-launched sightseeing double-decker buses.
Later in the evening, the festival started in full bloom, drawing a great number of audiences from all parts of the city with a predominant number of youths.
The splendid and cool mid-November evening at Alhamra Cultural Conference was buzzing with highly excited youth. The elaborately decorated venue was completely immersed in a cacophony of lights and sounds.
The evening performances in various halls of Alhamra include the plays by NCA, UCP, Government College, Kinnaird College, Fast, Saint Anthony’s High School, Froebels International School, Unique School, NUST and University College Lahore.
Besides the spellbinding performances by the brilliant student artistes from the above-mentioned educational institutions, other most prominent features of the first day of this highly entertaining festival remained the musical night, which, as per its over a decade tradition, enthralled its young audience with the mesmerising songs by the young singers.
