239, graduates, postgraduates awarded at NUST convocation

The undergraduate and graduate convocation of School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME), Atta-ur-Rehman School of Applied Bioscience (ASAB) and School of Natural Sciences (SNS) was held here at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) main campus at H-12, Islamabad. As many as 239 graduates and postgraduates were awarded degrees.
Millat Tractor Limited Chairman Sikandar Mustafa Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion were NUST Rector Muhammad Asghar, senior management of the university, some distinguished guests, faculty, students and parents of the graduates.
In the convocation, 49 BE Mechanical Engineering, 41 MS Mechanical/Design and Manufacturing Engineering/Bio Medical Engineering/Robotics and Intelligent Machine Engineering from SMME, 17 BS Bio Sciences, 40 MS Healthcare Biotechnology/Industrial Biotechnology/Plant Biotechnology from ASAB and 20 BS Mathematics, 40 MPhil Mathematics from SNS were awarded their degrees. President’s Gold Medal was awarded to 16 students (five from SMME, six from SNS and five from ASAB) for best academic performance. Chancellor’s Silver Medal was awarded to three students (one each from each school) from being second best in the academics.
Two students (one from each SMME and ASAB) obtained Rector’s Gold Medal for best projects. Best Teacher and Best Researcher from each school were also awarded certificates. Best community service award was given to two faculty members (one from each AMME and ASAB).
In his address, the chief guest felicitated the graduates and their proud parents. He was all praises for NUST for having won a respectable niche among the elite universities of the world in a very short span of time.
While addressing the gathering, NUST Rector Muhammad Asghar also congratulated the fresh graduates.
He said that it was the fruit of relentless contributions made by the university’s faculty, staff and, the students that NUST was graded among the top 550 universities of the world. He made special mention of Higher Education Commission for supporting NUST in its fast-paced development.
