KARACHI: Former chief selector Mohsin Khan believes that the form gained during the Test series against England and the home-like conditions in the UAE must add to Pakistan’s chances of winning the four-match ODI series.
“Pakistan must beat England as they gained form in the Test series. The UAE conditions are also conducive for Pakistani cricketers,” Mohsin Khan said on Monday.
He added that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should choose sporting pitches.
Mohsin said that Pakistan had good players in their fold and it mattered little that England were a better-ranked side in ODIs.
Pakistan are ranked eighth, while England are at sixth spot in the ODI Rankings.
“The team which plays better during the series clinches it. So Pakistan shouldn’t worry about England’s better ranking,” he stressed.
Mohsin said the credit of impressive performance in the Test series goes to Misbah-ul-Haq and his players.
“They all played brilliantly throughout the series. Now I wish best of luck to Azhar Ali. I hope the team that sparkled under Misbah in Tests takes the momentum to ODIs and displays the same spirit under Azhar,” he said.
Mohsin declined to comment when asked if Mohammad Amir should be brought back in the team, but he said that the country’s respect was above everything.
