The District West Police claimed to have killed two members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an encounter on Saturday night.
The police also said that a huge quantity of explosives, including a prepared bomb, was found at the crime scene.
Talking to The News, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Azfar Mahesar said that the operation was conducted on a tip-off that members of a banned outfit were hiding in a house situated near the Khanu Hotel, Northern Bypass area.
As the police moved in, the terrorists opened fire at personnel and ASI Naeem got injured.
The police retaliated and arrested two terrorists in injured condition who later got expired, while their two associates managed to flee. The bodies were moved to the ASH for legal formalities. SSP Mahesar said that during the search of their hideout, a Kalashnikov, a pistol, 20 kilograms of explosive, a prepared bomb weight about 2 kilograms, ball bearings, nut bolts, detonating cords and other material were confiscated.
Body found
The body of a woman was found in her residence in the Aziz Bhatti police limits.
Sumaira Masih, 22, wife of Jamshed Masih, was found dead in her home in the Shanti Nagar, Dalmia area. The body was taken to the JPMC where doctors said that there were some marks of torture on her corpse and she was killed by a sharp edge weapon. According to the police, her brother lodged an FIR against his brother-in-law Jamshed and alleged him of killing his sister. Police arrested the accused and seized a dagger.
