Over 600 dengue larvae being detected daily

Rawalpindi Over 600 dengue larvae are being detected on daily basis during indoor survey by special teams constituted by the city district government on the directions of the Punjab government. This was revealed by Commissioner, Rawalpindi, Capt (r) Zahid during an informal chat with this correspondent here at his office.

Over 600 dengue larvae are being detected on daily basis during indoor survey by special teams constituted by the city district government on the directions of the Punjab government.
This was revealed by Commissioner, Rawalpindi, Capt (r) Zahid during an informal chat with this correspondent here at his office.
He said that compared to previous years, the situation of dengue virus has been severe this year. However, the situation of dengue virus would not be alarming in next year as effective steps are being adopted to kill the dengue larvae. The process of effective methods being implemented would continue on permanent basis to rid the people of Rawalpindi and its adjacent areas from dengue next year. With the continuation of measures, we would be able to control this dengue disease in the years to follow.
The staff designated on dengue elimination work in health units and other bodies would continue to perform their task on regular basis.
The commissioner said that over 475 special teams have been formed which do surveillance work for elimination of dengue in Rawalpindi and its adjoining areas. Outdoor and indoor surveillance being made on regular basis.
The surveillance teams working on indoor survey visits more than 14,000 houses daily and detect over 600 dengue larvae daily which are killed executed on the spot. The surveillance work on indoor and outdoor basis is carried out from 8 a.m. morning till 6 p.m. evening. He informed that the work does not end from here because the team members revisit the houses and places where dengue larvae is detected and executed. Surprisingly, dengue larvae is redetected from the houses where were executed after been found previously. While carrying detection and execution work, the team members also issue special instructions to the inmates for keeping their house clean and not allowing gathering of water. The citizens are asked to carryout spray work for killing mosquitoes after every second day. The utensils filled with water should remain covered and replaced after every third day, the team personnel advise to the citizens.
A daily report of measures for eradication of dengue is submitted to the Punjab Chief Minister, the commissioner said.
