20-hour power breakdown

The residents of Sir Syed Colony along Tipu Road and Nadeemabad along Jahangir Road had to face eight to 20 hours of power breakdowns on Monday and Tuesday. The Islamabad Electricity Supply Company’s Civil Lines sub-division failed to fix the fault till Tuesday evening.
The population in a section of thickly populated area along Jahangir Road had been facing power outage for over 16 hours on Tuesday after the breakdown that started at around 12 o’clock in the
night between Monday and Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, hundreds of residents in Sir Syed Colony, a thickly populated locality along Tipu Road and Jahangir Road, had to be without electricity from around nine O’clock in the morning to five O’clock in the evening due to faults developed on a transformer at Jahangir Road feeder.
The thickly populated streets at a stretch of 500 metres along Jahangir Road had to be in darkness in the night between Monday and Tuesday because no streetlights were operating. However, the complaint office at Iesco’s Civil Lines Sub-division, when contacted by ‘The News’ at noon on Tuesday, the complaint clerks Mansoor Ali and Nasir said they were unaware of power outage for over 12 hours along Jahangir Road.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) at Civil Lines Sub-division Mustafa Baloch, when contacted by ‘The News’ on Tuesday afternoon at around 2:00 p.m. said he was unaware of the problem, however, later he said the power breakdown was because of faults developed on a fuse of a transformer installed along Jahangir Road. “The Iesco Civil Lines Sub-Division would try to remove the fault as soon as possible,” he said.
However, one-and-a-half hour later, the SDO informed ‘The News’ that his team was waiting for crane to fix the fault and residents may have to be without electricity for some more time.
The Iesco’s Civil Lines Sub-Division could not remove the fault till filing of this report on Tuesday evening and the residents had been without electricity for over 20 hours.
