PESHAWAR: Advisor to the chief minister on Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Mehar Taj Roghani along with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), UK president, Shergil Khan Malik visited institutes for special persons on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, they visited the Government School for the Blind at Nisharabad and Government School for the Deaf at Gulbahar and Women Crisis Centre and Special Education Complex at Hayatabad where she met the students and teachers and inquired about their problems.
She examined the computer labs, tailoring and classrooms in the schools. Mehar Taj appreciated the process of imparting education and training to female students during the visit to girls’ section.
During the inspection of Special Education Complex Hayatabad, Dr Shiraz told the visiting delegation that schools were available for special students in 15 districts of the province but due to non-availability of basic facilities, students faced hurdles in receiving education.
He said awareness was necessary in this connection so that the public could show positive attitude and level their support in this regard.On the occasion, Qazi Syed Noor, president Pakistan Blind Association, said the provision of talking watch, barrel box and the conduct of training for the special students’ teachers were imperative.Dr. Mehar Taj Roghani said that welfare of the special students was a priority of the provincial government.
