PESHAWAR: All is set for the Tour de Galiyat National Cycling Race jointly organised by theTourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association (KPCA) to promote tourism in the province and also send a message of peace to the world.
Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada will inaugurate the race to be started from Sports Complex Islamabad at 10am today.
Around 100 cyclists would start riding their bikes from Islamabad Sports Complex and reach Nathiagali in the scenic Galiyat region after passing through the ancient Wah Cantt, Taxila and Hassan Abdal cities on the Grand Trunk Road and then Havelian and Abbottabad cities in the scenic Hazara division in an effort to win the race.
According to the itinerary, a ceremony would be held at Model Age Girls High School in Abbottabad. Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani and other officials would give away cash prizes and awards to the winners of the race on the first day.
The concluding ceremony will be held at Nathiagali and Advisor to KP Chief Minister Amjad Afridi and Secretary for Sports & Tourism Azam Khan will attend the event. TCKP MD Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that cyclists from across the country were participating in the race.
He said the event would send a positive message to the world about peace and tourism in KP and would also attract domestic and international tourists to the province. The official said the TCKP was working on various programmes to lure more tourists to serene spots in the KP.
