KARACHI: Two Pakistani wrestlers lost their fights on the last day of the World Military Games in Mungyeong, Korea, on Saturday.
In the men’s Greco-Roman 75 kilogram category, Nadir Khan lost 0-4 to Georgio Prevolarakis of Greece.
In men’s Greco-Roman 66 kilogram category, Nadir was beaten 0-4 by Jamel Rasheed Johnson of US.
Pakistan’s contingent had 22 athletes. One participated in archery; four in boxing; six in golf; two in sailing; two in taekwondo; three in wrestling; and four in athletics.
In Athletics, Shakeel Ahmed stood sixth in men’s hammer throw category; Liaquat Ali stood sixth with a timing of 11.02 seconds after reaching the men’s 100m semi-finals; Noor Shad Ali stood fourth in men’s 100m para category and seventh in men’s shot put para category; and Mohammad Sajjad stood fifth in men’s 110m hurdles category.
In archery, Sajjad Ahmed lost in the quarter-finals of recurve men’s individual (disabled) category.
In boxing, Ahmed Ali Khan lost in the round of 16 in super heavy weight category; Awais Ali Khan lost in the quarter-finals of light heavy weight category; Farhan Mehmood lost in the round of 16 in Bantam category; and Nisar Mohammad lost in the round 32 of fly category.
In golf’s individual category, Mohammad Ashfaq stood 16th with a total score of 297; Khushhal Khan Bangash stood 59th with 342; Adeel Ahmed Hashmi stood 48th with 328; Mohammad Ayub stood 53rd after scoring 333; Raja Ansar Mehmood stood 43rd with 325; and Mohammad Naeem stood 14th with 296.
The golf team stood eighth with 1239.
In sailing, Akram Tariq and Khalid Hussain stood 12th with 108 points (net points 81) after 11 races in open two person dinghy category. In taekwondo, Mohammad Ashfaq lost in the round of 32 of 63kg category and Faqeer Hussain lost in the round of 16 of 80 kg category.
In wrestling, Azhar Hussain lost in the Repechage round in free style category; Nadir Khan and Nadir lost in the main round of Greco-Roman category.
