Badaber response

Our armed forces’ response to the attack on Badaber shows that we have come a long way in effectively tackling militants’ attacks on our security installations. The attackers were effectively engaged and their movement was delayed by the PAF perimeter defence long enough for the Quick Response Force (QRF) to arrive. The QRF surrounded and contained the attackers close to the perimeter and killed all of them.
We have thus demonstrated that our terminal defences in case of such attacks are effective. However, our pre-emption capability against such attacks is questionable. According to ISPR, the attack was controlled and coordinated from Afghanistan. This was determined from the radio intercepts of the attackers and their controllers. Why did we fail to contain the attackers before them reaching their target? Our intelligence agencies, Frontier Corps and finally the police are failing to pre-empt attackers. Our police have utterly failed to find out where the attackers gathered the final assault. There is need for better coordination between different intelligence agencies.
