KARACHI: Awais Ali Khan lost to an Indian boxer in the quarter-finals of men’s light heavy weight (81 kilogram) category at the 6th CISM Military World Games in Mungyeong, Korea, on Wednesday.
He was defeated by Devanshu Jaiswal 0-3 with scores of 28-29, 28-29, 28-29.
He had beaten Abdulrahman Abu Lubedah of Germany 2-1 in the second round with scores of 28-28, 28-28, 27-29.
In wrestling, Nadir Khan lost to Dae Su Han of Korea 0-5 in freestyle 70 kilogram category. Another wrestler named Nadir lost 0-4 to Dzhamal Otarsultanov of Russia in freestyle 61kg category in the pre-quarterfinals. He also lost 1-4 to Yeldos Abikenov of Kazakhstan in Repechage round.
In sailing, Mohammad Akram (skipper) and Khalid Hussain (crew) scored 108 points in 11 races. They scored 11 points in the tenth and 13 in the eleventh race. Their net points were 81 in the 2000-open two person dinghy category.
In the track and field event, Liaquat Ali clocked 21.87 seconds (react time 0.16 seconds) in his heat in the round one of 200 meter individual category race.
In the shot put category (para) Noor Shad Ali scored 9.07 (8.86, 8.39, 7.91, 8.21, 9.07, 8.83) to stand last in his group A.
On Tuesday, Farhan Mehmood had lost to Edgar Walth of Germany 1-2 in the first round of men’s bantam (56 kilogram) category boxing with the scores of 29-28, 27-30, 27-30.
Shakeel Ahmed scored 62.88 in men’s hammer throw category.
In archery, Sajjad Ahmed lost to Michael Luckow of USA 0-6 in the quarter-finals of recurve men’s individual (disabled) brackets category.
Earlier, he had defeated Paul Gomers of Netherlands 6-5 in the second round. In wrestling, Azhar Hussain lost 7-8 to Jin Cheol Kim of Korea in the qualifications of men’s freestyle (57 kg) category. He also lost 10-14 to the Gor Grigoryan of Armenia in the Repechage round one.
