Mentally-challenged man self-immolates over virus fear

LAHORE:A 68-year-old man ended his life by setting himself ablaze due to the fear of the coronavirus in the Ghaziabad police limits on Thursday. The police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. Later, he was buried in the local graveyard. The victim was identified as Hanif, a resident of Hari Nagar, Ghaziabad. He was mentally challenged and also an asthma patient. Sources said people had frightened him of the virus, following which he committed suicide. An investigation is underway.

Woman hit to death: A 32-year-old woman was hit to death by a speeding car in the Chung police limits here on Thursday. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Laila.

She was mother of five. Police said the victim was trying to cross a road when a speeding car hit her from behind. As a result, she received multiple injuries and died on the spot. Police reached the scene and collected forensic evidence.

accidends: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 666 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these RTCs, two people died whereas 756 were injured. Out of this, 457 were seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 299 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.
