Six civilians injured in Indian ceasefire violations

RAWALPINDI: At least six civilians were seriously injured in unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC) during the last over 24 overs.

“In last 24 hours six citizens, including two girls, have been injured and evacuated to nearby health facilities for necessary medical care,” Major General Babar Iftikhar, the DG ISPR said on Saturday.

Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations targeting the civilian population in Sharda, Dhudial and Shahkot Sectors along LoC using artillery and heavy mortars.

Owing to the Indian Army’s indiscriminate firing at Bessan Wali and Chhari villages, four innocent civilians, including a 15-year-old girl sustained serious injuries.

The Pakistan Army targeted the Indian army posts which initiated the fire.

In yet another ceasefire violation, the Indian Army resorted to unprovoked fire in Nikial Sector deliberately targeting the civilian population. “CFVs being responded befittingly by the Pak Army troops,” the ISPR said. Owing to indiscriminate firing at Mohra village, two civilians, including an 18-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries.

The ISPR said during the year 2020, the Indian Army had committed 708 ceasefire violations so far, in which two citizens embraced shahadat while 42 sustained injuries.
