Disinfectant tunnel at fruit market
MULTAN: Authorities Saturday installed a disinfectant tunnel in the Multan fruit and vegetable market to contain spread of coronavirus. All vendors, shopkeepers, and visitors are bound to pass through the tunnel to enter the fruit market. The fruit and vegetable market is exempted from lockdown to continue supply of vegetables to citizens. The disinfection tunnel removes all bacteria from humans through automatic spray guns installed in the tunnel. The numbers of sanitizers units also installed in the fruit and vegetable market, officials said. Meanwhile, 1,160 pilgrims at Multan quarantine centre left for their homes as they tested negative for the coronavirus. The pilgrims comprise senior citizens, men, women and children of Attock, Rawalpinddi, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan were part of the first caravan left for their respective cities. Minister Dr Akhtar Malik and officials were present when the pilgrims left for their homes.
stranded artistes: A spokesman for Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik in his Twitter message Saturday said the minister was making efforts to bring back Pakistani artistes stranded in Thailand following coronavirus outbreak. The spokesman said in response to appeals of artists on social media, Dr Akhtar Malik held a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who assured him of repatriating artists at earliest. The minister was in constant contact with Pakistani embassy. According to the minister’s spokesman, Dr Akhtar Malik termed artists an asset of the country. The minister expressed hope that the artists named Shamoon Abbasi, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and Sara Loreen would come back soon.
