Flour crisis worsens
LAHORE : Crisis of wheat flour shortage has worsened as the government failed to check black marketing by powerful mill owners. Besides, the Punjab also faces shortage as Sindh imposed a ban on transportation of grains. Wheat trucks destined for Punjab were stopped in Sindh despite the issuance of a permit from the Sindh Food Department. Wheat of 10 Punjab flour mills was stopped in Larkana district. Sindh food officials stop the trucks going to Punjab in Larkana division of Sindh, claimed the Pakistan Flour Mills Association chairman. Vehicles were not allowed to come to Punjab despite issuance of wheat transport permit, alleged the Pakistan Flour Mills Association. Stopping the wheat supply from Sindh will keep flour shortage in Punjab, he warned. Meanwhile, atta chakki owners have also raised flour prices to Rs 65 per kg as wheat price went through the roof.
