This refers to the article, 'Leadership in the time of corona' (March 30) by Mohammed Zubair. The writer has rightly criticized Imran Khan when he says that leading a cricket team and leading a country are two different things. But those who voted for him were fully aware about his capabilities. What the PM wants to emphasize is that a complete lockdown would starve the poor and daily wagers which he wants to avoid.
The writer is more than justified when he talks about ignoring the opposition on such issues, but he forgets that the opposition calls him a selected PM. Let the opposition call an all-parties conference and invite the PTI and allied parties. The opposition's main objection is not on the poor handling of the coronavirus crisis but on the high-handedness by NAB and the alleged collision between them only against the opposition leaders. The country is in extreme danger; it is time to forget differences and stand united under one roof to draw a national action plan to fight the pandemic, as suggested by the writer.
