Coronavirus outbreak: KP PDMA sends more protective gear to health, other depts

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has dispatched more protective gears including 50,000 N95 facemasks to the health and other relevant departments.

A PDMA official on Tuesday said that 40,000 N95 facemasks were given to the health department while the rest were sent to other departments concerned including the Rescue 1122. He said that 10,000 surgical masks, 8,000 surgical gloves and as many as surgical caps had also been dispatched to the health and other departments concerned.

The KP PDMA has already dispatched 5,000 personal protective kits to the district administrations and concerned departments fighting on the frontline against Covid-19 in the province. The personal protective kits included full body suits, facemasks, surgical caps, gloves, goggles and other lifesaving equipment.

The official said that 750 litres sanitizer, 8,000 gloves and other relief items had also been delivered to the district administrations for establishing quarantine centres in their respective districts.

He added that about 10,000 more kits would be provided to the concerned departments soon. He said that provincial emergency operation centre was active round-the-clock with dedicated staff from PDMA, Rescue 1122 and doctors, who were continuously guiding the people.

Keeping in view social distancing and adopting precautionary measures due to outbreak of coronavirus epidemic, the PDMA has also configured video conferencing system in office through which high-ups of the departments concerned and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district administrations are interconnected to discuss issues and directives on time during current emergency situation.
